One of my favorite quilt shops is People Places and Quilts in Summerville, SC. And ever so often, I hear them calling me. Well...not really....PPQ doesn't pick up the phone and say "Dottie...we need to see you...come to Summerville...Actually it is Dottie's brain saying: "Dottie..Summerville is calling...you need to go and make sure that the ladies at People Places and Quilts are doing their job correctly" and all that good stuff that your brain makes you do!!!!
So at 6:00 am on Saturday my husband and I were in the car heading south to Summerville. We missed Eggs Up in Litchfield Beach ( I thought the restaurant was in Pawleys' Island) and so we ended up in Georgetown at a quaint little cafe and had the best eggs and grits evah!!!! There is something about stone ground grits...sorry Quaker Oats....the real deal is better!!!!
Arriving in Summerville we checked into Flowertown Bed and Breakfast and then it was off to Sew and Sew, The Downtown Farmers Market, all the other shops on the square and finally to People Places and Quilts. I feel very happy that I was able to "stimulate" the economy in Summerville and especially at Sew and Sew and PPQ. The Historical Society of Downtown Summerville was also having a festival with antiques in the square...so it was quite a day!!!
Our dinner was at The Continental Greek Restaurant and it was fabulous. We were joined by our friends Abby and Emery and Abby's roommate from college Melissa (nickname: "Cupcake")
We returned to the B&B and sat on the porch and admired the wonderful gardens the inn has and all the Bonsai carefully displayed in the garden. What an art form.
Sunday we enjoyed our breakfast at the inn and then a quick tour of a couple of more shops and then it was home to Southport. A quick getaway even for one day can stimulate more than the economy of a particular place...it stimulates the heart and mind of the visitor!

You were right. It was wonderful. Mom spent more money than I did! We went to the Greek restaurant too and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for calling my on Thursday to make sure I knew not to miss either. The on;y way it could have been better is if we could have been there at the same time!
